Application Instructions:
- Download tools zip located here: TOOLS 1.0

- Verify that you have the latest version.
- The latest version is available here: COD4 1.6 PATCH
- i. And the 1.7 patch: COD4 1.7 PATCH
- If you have the steam version, you have the latest patch already.

- Extract the .zip to your Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare install location (Will take a long time).
- Default location is: ""C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare"
- On Steam, location is: "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty 4"
- Create Shortcuts for:
- [gamepath]\bin\CoD4\CompileTools\CoD4CompileTools.exe
- [gamepath]\bin\MoDBuilder.exe
- Open CoD4CompileTools.exe and switch to the Applications tab.
- Click Launch Level Editor to open Radiant.
- To create an MP level, use the ‘mp_’ prefix before your level name.
- To create an SP level, do not use the prefix.
- Select the cod4.prj project file when prompted.
- Save your level as "mp_candidatename". Where "candidatename" is your name.
- Click Launch Level Editor to open Radiant.
- View the one sheet here DOWNLOAD
- Please replicate the design as close as possible in Radiant. We’re only looking for basic blocks and textures, no extensive detailing required. If you feel the need to deviate from the design, be prepared to explain why.

Submission Instructions:
- Verify your map compiles and is playable.
- Switch to the Level Compiling tab in CoD4 Compile Tools
- With your level selected, click down the numbered button list as each option completes, to 4.
- You will need a CoD4 profile setup in-game
- Check the boxes for 'Enable Developer' and 'Enable Cheat'
- Now run your map!
- Collect the map files in a file hierarchy zip. The map files are:
- The .map file, located in [gamepath]\map_source
- The prefab files, located in [gamepath]\map_source\prefabs\(your mapname here)
- The CSV file, located at [gamepath]\zone_source\(your map name).csv
- The GSC file, located in [gamepath]\raw\maps\mp\(your map name).gsc
- The FF file, located in [gamepath]\zone\english\(your mapname).ff
- Submit the zip file

Notes:
- Playtesting is not required
- Please note that CoD4 Mod Tools requires your video drivers and DirectX to be up to date. For certain applications to work correctly a DX9 video card is required, even though the game itself will run on a DX8 video card. Please contact your hardware manufacturer to find the latest drivers for your system.
- The CoD4 Mod Tools do not work in Windows Vista, although some users have reported some success running them in Windows XP Compatibility Mode.
- CoD4 Mod Tools require that your Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare installation has been updated to at least version 1.4.
- Currently, Cod4 Mod tools are only supported for the English version of the game.
- The CoD4 Mod Tools require a DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0 compliant card and the .NET Framework Version 2.0 or higher, available from Windows Update or here.
Running the Tools:
- When running CoD4CompileTools for the first time you must click the "browse" button in the upper left corner of the "Preferences" tab and browse to the location the game is installed.
- Again, the default location is "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare".
- On steam, the default location is “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty 4”.
- When running CoD2_EffectsEd for the first time, you will be asked to browse to the location the game is installed.
- The default location is "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare".
